6. Ozone Disinfection Units, Ozone-Decontamination Units and Locks

These units employ the sterilizing effects of UV radiation (secondary) and ozone gas (primary).

Bacteria, spores and germs are killed through UV/ozone-gas decontamination, even in inaccessible areas (joints, hollow spaces, etc.). Even the open reserve water supply required for moisturization and condensation in cell-culture incubator cabinets can be characterized as sterile following UV/ozone-gas decontamination.

The ozone is automatically broken down by a catalytic converter following the decontamination process.

Disinfection / Decontamination of CO2 Incubators

As an alternative to work-intensive manual disinfection we have developed mobile UV/Ozone Disinfection Unit / Decontamination Units to eliminate fungi, bacteria and germs in CO2 Incubators.

Several studies conducted under practical conditions confirm that the treatment of CO2 incubator cabinets with UV/ ozone reduced or even prevented the contamination of cell cultures for a period of several weeks.

Our patented decontamination unit replaces work-intensive and often hazardous manual cleaning with chemical agents.

6.2 Disinfection Locks / Decontamination Locks

We have developed Ozone-Gas Decontamination Chambers / Disinfection Chambers which function as lock between grey and clean-room/laboratory areas in co-operation with research institutes and industry representatives.

These Disinfection Units / Decontamination Units are used for decontamination and supply functions in isolated areas of laboratories and hospitals.

The ozone is generated by special UV radiators inside the cabinet. In contrast to other gas-sterilization processes, our units require no complicated and costly gas supply and disposal systems.

The use of vacuum employing evacuation and flooding cycles ensures a pulsing application of gas and intensify the penetrating effect.

A built-in catalytic converter automatically reduces the ozone-gas atmosphere to a level below the permissible MAK value of 0.1 ppm following the decontamination process.
